Hacienda + Sotuta de Peón Museum

Duration: 5 hours

Enjoy a wonderful tour of a living museum set in a mid-19th century Hacienda, where you’ll witness every step of the henequen transformation process — known in the region as “Green Gold” — from plant to fiber, and from fiber to finished product. You’ll also get to see antique machinery that has been restored to full working condition after withstanding the test of time. The tour also includes a visit to a traditional Mayan house.

Add to the experience the unique geological formations: the cenotes—beautiful rivers of crystal-clear, alkaline waters that are highly coveted. Take a moment to enjoy a refreshing swim at the end of your tour, or, if you prefer, relax in our large swimming pool, surrounded by lush gardens filled with tropical flowers and spectacular native greenery. Conclude your visit with the delicious flavors of traditional Yucatecan cuisine.
